About me.

I am a professional  advertising illustrator, cartoonist & artist living in Switzerland.  ​I work from home near Zürich or from my hut high up in the Swiss Alps (Graubünden)
I try & capture your vehicles individual character.
My work is hand drawn & must look hand drawn. I'm not interested in realism or the 'computer' look, despite most of my work now being digital illustration. My unique style takes time & effort. No shortcuts or trickery.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, I lived in Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika, before moving to South Africa as a youngster. I grew up in S Africa doing my schooling, a few years at the Johannesburg College of Art, the army, then back to the art college as a young lecturer in illustration. After this as Art Director in various Joburg ad agencies before taking a break to do 2 big solo adventures. First was a solo walk around the complete SA coastline(3000km) which took a year, then followed 2 years later by going solo down SA's longest river, the Orange river(2000km), on a surfboard. This took 7 weeks.
In 1985 I left SA for Switzerland where I married & started working as a freelance illustrator. 
Switzerland has been good to me, a beautiful country in every way.
Through my Carpaintings I 'meet' so many interesting cars & owners from around the world. I look forward to hearing about your car or whatever else you want illustrated.
